Quindío Gold Inc. is a dynamic gold-producing company operating in Colombia, focusing on three high-yield opportunities located in two key mining regions. Our goal is to leverage our advanced processing technology and industry expertise to process high-grade gold-bearing ores efficiently and profitably.
By assembling a team of seasoned professionals and securing favorable agreements with local producers, we are strategically positioned to capitalize on Colombia’s rich mining potential. Our focus on innovation and operational excellence will allow us to maximize recoveries, lower costs, and create substantial value for our shareholders.
Operational Strategy: Our carefully selected operational areas not only promise high-grade ore supply but are also situated in regions free from the complications of armed conflict. This ensures safe, stable, and peaceful operations while benefiting from a wealth of local mining knowledge, infrastructure, and access to skilled labor.
Area #1 – Town: Marmato, Department: Caldas
History and Mining Heritage
Marmato is a historic mining town in Caldas with a rich gold-mining heritage that dates back to the pre-Colombian era. Over centuries, it has been a hub for artisanal and industrial mining, producing substantial gold volumes and maintaining its status as a significant mining community. Modern mining techniques, introduced in the 19th century, transformed Marmato into an industrial center, and its mining legacy continues today, with a thriving artisanal culture and a supportive community.
Quindío Gold will operate a 80 ton-per-day plant (upgradable to 150 tons-per-day), starting November 2024, and a 400 ton-per-day plant starting 2025.
Area #2 – Town: San Roque, Department: Antioquia
History and Mining Heritage
San Roque, a small town with a deep mining heritage, has been a site of gold extraction since the 16th century. Historically inhabited by the Tahamí and Nutabe Indigenous groups, the area later became a focal point of the colonial mining network. In the 20th century, the region saw tensions between local miners and foreign corporations, which modernized the mining process and increased output. Today, San Roque remains resilient, with its community committed to preserving their mining traditions and resisting large-scale exploitation.
Quindío Gold will design (in conjuction with CIMEX - National University of Colombia) and construct, a 1,000 ton-per-day plant, starting starting 2025.
Colombia has a long and rich history of gold mining, dating back to pre-Colombian civilizations. Today, the country remains one of the largest gold producers in Latin America, with significant reserves located in the Andean regions. Major mining companies operate in Colombia, extracting gold on an industrial scale from areas such as Antioquia, Chocó, and Caldas. Colombia's gold mining industry plays a crucial role in the country's economy, generating employment and substantial export revenue. However, the sector faces challenges, including environmental concerns, land rights disputes, and the inclusion of indigenous communities in mining decisions.
Quindío Gold is uniquely positioned to address these challenges. By integrating advanced processing technologies and sustainable practices into our operations, we aim to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impacts. Our approach ensures higher recovery rates while adhering to strict environmental standards, setting a new benchmark for responsible gold mining in the country.
Artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) is deeply embedded in Colombia's culture and history, with thousands of Colombians depending on artisanal mining for their livelihoods, particularly in rural and marginalized regions. ASM gold production typically involves rudimentary techniques such as manual panning and small-scale underground mining. While ASM provides crucial economic opportunities, it often operates informally, leading to environmental degradation, such as mercury contamination, and unsafe working conditions.
Quindío Gold is actively working to bridge the gap between informal artisanal miners and the formal economy. Through partnerships with local governments and community groups, we provide artisanal miners access to modern processing facilities that eliminate the need for hazardous practices like mercury usage. Our processing plants offer a safe, legal, and profitable alternative for artisanal miners, promoting formalization and helping integrate them into the regulated economy.
