GRAND CHIEF OF ANISININEW OKIMAWIN (AO)
On Tuesday, September 3, 2004, after a long and hard campaign, Michael Birch was elected as the Grand Chief of Anisininew Okimawin (AO). AO, is a group of four First Nations in the Island Lake region of Northern Manitoba. Michael was elected with a mandate to improve transportation, education, economic development, and health, among other things for AO’s over 15,000 members.
MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR A GREAT LEADER
Michael was honoured to be asked today to partake in the moment of silence for our leader Grand Chief of Manitoba Cathy Merrick at the Canadian Football League game at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg. It was a day he will never forget!
